In October 2019 the Gough Group was acquired by Sime Darby Berhad. Sime Darby Berhad is a Malaysia-based, listed company, with more than 20,000 employees and operations in 18 countries and territories across the Asia Pacific region.
Sime Darby Berhad operates four core businesses in key growth sectors: Industrial, Motors, Logistics and Healthcare. The Gough Group businesses are currently transitioning into the Industrial (Terra Cat) and Motors (all other business units including TWL) areas.
The Board and shareholders agreed that transferring ownership to a new owner with the capital and capability to strengthen the business was in the company’s best interests.
We are confident that Sime Darby’s ownership will strengthen the outlook for the business, enhance service to customers and improve opportunities for our team.
Although the Gough family was sad to see the end of an almost 100-year legacy of Gough family ownership, we can be excited about the future direction of the business.
